Memorial
Georgiana Nevins, 97, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Mechanicsville Specialty Care in Mechanicsville, Iowa. A private graveside service will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

“Following the continued guidance from health officials, physical distancing must be practiced. The use of facemasks or shields is required.”

Georgiana Kristan was born on March 15, 1924 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the daughter of Joseph and Tillie (Pavlicek) Kristan. She graduated from McKinley High School. Georgiana was united in marriage to George Nevins on August 10, 1946 in Rock Island, IL. She was a devoted homemaker. Georgiana loved to read mystery books, play cards, and was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan! She enjoyed time at their cabin at Ivanhoe (south of Mt. Vernon) on the Cedar River. But her greatest enjoyment came from time spent with her beloved family and friends. Georgiana was devoted and loved her family dearly.

Georgiana received many awards and recognitions for her volunteering at the Red Cross, Garfield School, Manor Care Nursing Home, and working the voting precincts. She was a dedicated member of the Central Park Presbyterian Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Peggy (Dale) Van Cleve of Ankeny, IA; and Diane (Tex) Clay of Lisbon, IA; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; and a son, Dan “Hawkeye” Nevins.

The family would like to the thank all the staff members from Mechanicsville Specialty Care and Care Initiatives Hospice for their love, support, dedication, and the tender care given to Georgiana.
