BRUCE A. ANDREE Cedar Rapids
Bruce Alan Andree of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away in his home the morning of Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at the age of 67, from pulmonary fibrosis. Bruce was born to Leo and Delome (Johnson) Andree on Nov. 14, 1952, in Waseca, Minn. He grew up as the middle child of three and attended Waseca High School. In 1978, he married Barbara L. Funke of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and the couple had three children. Bruce ran a small business fixing typewriters and office equipment until his health conditions forced him to retire. He continued to be an active member of his small community, helping friends and neighbors along the way. He was an avid reader of all science-fiction and a hard-core Trekkie. He collected light-houses and sailing ship models. He accidently found out he loved cats after agreeing to let a stray stay for a few days in the early 1990s, and always had at least one after that. He had a quirky sense of humor and a vast knowledge of a little bit of everything. He was an excellent cook and often showed he cared with gifts of home-made food. He did the best he could. Bruce is survived by his daughter, Nicole M. Andree (Ryan Hayes); his son, Benjamin L. Andree (Kelly Wesbrook); and three granddaughters, Virginia, Isabella and Violet. He is also survived by his mother, Dee Andree, Waseca, Minn.; and his brothers, Paul (Rhonda) Andree of New Richland, Minn., and Brian (Vickie) Andree of Waterville, Minn. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo A. Andree; and his son, Christopher M. Andree. Services will be private following his cremation.
