Jacob Reichert, 67, died in a Cedar Rapids hospital at 4 p.m. yesterday following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Reichert was born in Rielingshausen, Wurttemburg, Germany, Nov. 21, 1857. He came to America March 18, 1861 settling in Marion. He was married to Fredericka Louise Domer Atz Oct. 22, 1882. She died Dec. 31, 1907.
To this union two children were born Clara I Reichert of Marion, and Melvin E. Reichert who died May 28, 1921.
Mr. Reichert was engaged in the meat market business in this city for many years.
He was married to Elizabeth Grieshaber July 3, 1909. Six years ago he moved to Kenwood Park where he was employed by the Hall Manufacturing company. He leaves besides his wife and one daughter, Clara I Reichert, four step-children, Mrs. G.A. Anderson, Mrs. Amelia Etzel, William Atz of Marion and Fred Atz of Alburnett.
One brother Carl Reichert of Marion died a number of years ago. His parents and other brothers and sisters residing in Germany have all preceded him in death. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church of Cedar Rapids.
A short prayer service will be held at the family home, 243 West Second street, Kenwood Park, Saturday at 2 p.m. Further services will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Marion Methodist church with the Rev. N.P. Uhlig, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran church of Cedar Rapids, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery.
