The Marion Register Tuesday March 21, 1911
Leona Augusta Heath was born in Greenville, Mercer Co., Penn., Jan. 18th, 1843, and passed away suddenly in her home March 14th, 1911. Her early years were spent in the neighborhood of her birth place. She was united in marriage to Mr. Homer Clark Riddle July 22nd, 1872. In 1883 they came West and settled in Marion, Iowa, where they have since lived. Three children were born to them, Fred Plummer Riddle of Minneapolis, Minn; Mrs. Naomi Eleanor Torrence of Perry, Iowa; Mrs. Stella Augusta Wooden of Minneapolis, Minn.
Mrs. Riddle was a very worthy woman in every way. In her early years she was very unfortunate in losing her hearing, and thus resulted in her staying at home more than she otherwise would, but this was more than compensated for in the development of those womanly virtues and the beautiful character which caused her to be beloved by those who knew her. All her acquaintances join in the testimony that "She did what she could," and that she did it well.
Mrs. Riddle became a member of the Methodist church in early life, and although she could not enter into the social life of the church, yet she never failed to do her part, and to contribute her share to the success of the church.
...
Mrs. Riddle is survived by her husband, and three children. She will be greatly missed from the home circle, and the family have the sympathy of the community in this sad bereavement.
The funeral services were in charge of Rev. S.R. Beatty.
