L.L. Ives, age 76, died Friday at 2:30 p.m. at his home, 843 Central avenue, following an illness of several weeks.
The son of George and Hannah Ives, pioneers of Linn county, he was born on a farm near Marion May 7, 1851. Mr. Ives was a member of the Baptist church which was organized in the home of his grandfather, Elihu Ives, five miles east of Marion. In 1896 he united with the Methodist church of which his wife was a member, regularly attending its services until the last few months. H was married March 11, 1875, to Rachel Goldsberry. Two daughters were born to them, Nellie Lucine Hatch, who died Jan. 1, 1924, and Mrs. Bertha Crew of Marion. Mr. Ives lived his entire life in Marion and its vicinity.
He is survived by his widow, the one daughter, and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Methodist church, with the Rev. William C. Perdew officiating. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery.
