LOIS ETHEL ELKIN Cedar Rapids Lois Ethel Elkin, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away at the Cottage Grove Place on Sunday, March 21, 2021, with her Pastor reading the Easter Story Scripture. Visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories on Wednesday, March 24, from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 2:30 p.m., with the Pastor Margaret Debner officiating. As mandated by proclamation, social distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people to be allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of face masks or shields are required. Lois was born on Feb. 3, 1935, in Highland, Ill. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Adela (Hoffmann) Buettikofer. Lois worked as a registered nurse for several area nursing homes and at the end of her career, St. Luke's hospital. After her retirement, she worked as a receptionist for Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. On Jan. 12, 1957, Lois married the love of her life, Rev. Robert Elkin in Highland, Ill. He proceeded her in death on July 19, 2019. Those left to cherish Lois's memory are her three daughters, Donna Gordon of Cedar Rapids, Diane (Dan) Ward of Masonville and Darlene (Donald) Guilbert of Columbus, Ohio; a son Douglas, (Susan Kelty) from Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
