Beverly Ann Richardson, 86, died surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.
Private Family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids with the Rev. Philip Thompson as Celebrant. Interment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Public visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2021, at Murdoch Linwood Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Masks should be worn at the visitation and the service.
Bev was born on April 11, 1934, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mary (Schmoll) Palmer. She graduated from Washington High School in 1953. Bev was united in marriage to Joseph Richardson on Nov. 23, 1953, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington. Bev was a homemaker for many years. After raising her children, she began her career at Norand Corporation, where she was known for being the "Best Dressed."
For 67 years, Joe and Bev enjoyed a full life of vacations and social time with family and friends. She was a wonderful baker, best known for her apple pie and German chocolate cake. Bev's charming personality led to an abundance of friends made everywhere she went, including being voted Tall Corn Queen in High School. Bev was best known for her home decorating, especially her Christmas Trees, and always looking "Fabulous." Bev was a Sweet Adeline and memorably sang at Carnegie Hall. Bev also volunteered at Teen Club and Altar and Rosary Society. Bev will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her loving husband Joe; her children, Dan (Dianna) Richardson, Randy (Deana) Richardson and Angela K. (Randy Hart) Nye, all of Cedar Rapids, and Kristy (Mike) Phillips of Vinton; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; her sister, Pat VanBuskirk; brother, Don (Linda) Palmer, all of Cedar Rapids; as well as her very special pet, Ellie.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
