Georgiana “Ginger” Helen Erger, 93, of Cedar Rapids died on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 Private family services and burial will be held at a later date. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Ginger is survived by her husband of 73 years, Ken; her daughters, Linda (Dr. David) Swope of North Liberty, Sheryl (Mike) Rogers of San Diego and Marla Wardell of Cedar Rapids; her son, Gary (Shelley) Erger of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; Chad (Bri) Swope, Amanda (Patrick) Gavin, Derek Wardell, Kristin Paul, Lexi Erger Jordyn Erger, Michael (Joy) Rogers Jr., Steven Rogers and Jonathan (Jen) Rogers and twenty great grandchildren. Sister in laws Florine Rowe, Rita Erusha and brother in law Clair Rowe. Many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth and Frank Kofron, brother and sister in law, Milo (Gladys) Kofron and her sister and brother in law, Rose (Wilmer) Sedlacek. Sister in law Mary Erger and brother in laws Bob Erger and Donald Erusha.
Ginger was born on March 1, 1927 in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Noska Kofron. She married Kenneth Erger on June 30, 1947 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Ginger was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She was a long time member of St. Jude Catholic Church, St. Margaret Circle, and of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Ginger was a terrific cook and people loved her homemade strawberry jam. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends and being together with family.Ginger will be missed by those who knew her and her family.
Gingers family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Mercy Hospital and the staff at Living Center West for giving their mom excellent care and keeping her comfortable.
Memorials may be directed to the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, Xavier High School, Jane Boyd Free Medical Clinic and St. Jude Catholic Church. Since this is a private funeral you may send cards thru Teahen Funeral Home to Ken and family.
