SPRINGVILLE--Earl D. Hampton, 78, Atlantic City, N.J., former resident of Springville, died Thursday, June 6, at Northfield, N.J.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 10, at the Hunte Funeral home, Springville. Rev. Charles Willming, Anamosa, officiated at the service. Burial was in Whittier.
He was born Jan. 21, 1885, son of Daniel W. and Mary Vail Hampton, near Springville. He grew to manhood in Springville. He graduated from Scattergood school, West Branch, and attended college in West Town, Pa.
May 26, 1909, he was married to Grace Moore, Springville. They made their home in Atlantic City, N.J. where he was employed in the hotel business, which he continued during his lifetime.
He was a member of the Society of Friends. Couple had observed their 50th wedding anniversary May 26, 1959.
Survivors include a brother, Alfred, California; a sister, Mrs. Lura Morris, Marion; two uncles, Dilwin, Whittier and Wilbur, Ashtabula, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife Feb. 25, 1962; two brothers, Dean and Floyd, a sister, Hattie, and a sister who died in infancy.
