Kevin Q. Shaver, 64, Hobart, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at his home. He was born Dec. 28, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to the late Robert and
Frances (Quinn) Shaver. Kevin was a 1975 graduate of Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. He married
the former Robin Schneider on July 3, 1997, in Fort
Worth, Texas. Kevin continued his education at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, where he received his degree in business administration in 1999.
He was employed at Lockheed Martin for over 20 years as a director in the Aeronautics Sector until accepting a position at IBM in Glendale, Calif., as an executive consultant. His next move brought him to Marinette Marine as their director of manufacturing, and he was then employed as VP of Optima Association. He was VP of Operations at Velocity Machine, and then Operations Consultant at Schenck SC. Kevin was currently serving as COO of the Cash Depot in Green Bay.
Kevin was multi-talented and incredibly generous. He volunteered his time and talents for the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce Partners in Education program, the Boys and Girls Club and the Golden House, among others. He was a talented musician and artist and loved playing golf with his older brother Phil. Kevin enjoyed scuba diving and was the family handyman, no job too large or small. Many of his co-workers, family and friends recognized Kevin's ability to lead and mentor and most certainly knew why he was loved and appreciated by so many. His real pride and joy were his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he cherished. Kevin was a sometimes bawdy gift giver, and his fart cards will be missed.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Robin; his three children, Nick (Meagan) Shaver, Los Angeles, Christie (Brandon) Nesteby, Cedar Rapids and Jason (Sarah) Matthews, Becket, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Taylor and Brystol Nesteby, Gwen, Declan and Dorian Matthews and Lily and Evie Shaver; his brother, Phillip (Gail) Shaver, Davis, Calif.; and his mother-in-law, Charlene Schneider, Amarillo, Texas.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Craig Shaver.
Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7. There will also be a visitation and memorial service held at the Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Saturday, Jan. 9. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
Online condolences may be sent to the Shaver family at www.prokowall.com or www.teahenfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of floral expressions, a memorial fund has been established for the Golden House, 1120 University Ave. Green Bay, WI 54302.
