Marvin William Baumgartner, 94, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Northbrook Manor Care Center. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 30 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A private family service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with burial to follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

As mandated by proclamation, social distancing must be practiced which requires a limited number of people to be allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of facemasks or shields is required.

Marvin was born on September 1, 1926 in Lime Springs, Iowa the son of Emerson and Elsie (Vogel) Baumgartner. He married the love of his life Francis Keaton on August 21, 1951 in Rossville, Georgia. He worked at Quaker Oats as a security guard for 35 years. He retired from Quaker Oats to spend time with his grandchildren.

He enjoyed his first Harley Davidson motorcycle, eating sweets, listening to country music, especially Johnny Cash, and playing his guitar. There was not an instrument he could not play. Most importantly, Marvin loved the time he spent with his family.

Marvin is survived by his children Sue (Michael) Frye of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jennie Galvin of Idaho, and Marvin (Margaret) Baumgartner of Dubuque, Iowa; 4 grandchildren Joshua, Jacob, Samantha, and Dylan; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Francis, his parents, and the remainder of his siblings.

Marvin will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
