Marcia B. Todd was born Oct. 15[sic], 1840 at Milltown, New Brunswick, and died April 28, 1913, at her home in Marion, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late Hon. William Todd, a highly respected and prominent citizen of that place, and a life-long member of the Provincial Parliament. He was appointed by Queen Victoria as a member of the executive council of the Confederation of Provinces, but owing to ill health he did not accep.t He was prominently identified with the commercial development of New Brunswick, and was the president of the St. Stevens Bank and of the New Brunswick and Canada Railroad. She was married to Geo. A. Cobban on Nov. 16, 1865, and has resided in Marion since then. Five children were born to them, of whom three are living: Neva C. Scampton of Marion, Iowa; Alice C. Fleetwood of Ogden, Utah, and Geo. T. Cobban of Minneapolis, Minn. She is also survived by an only sister, Mrs. J.A. Ross, of Hampton, New Hampshire.
The funeral services were held on April 30, at the family residence, conducted by Rev. Dr. B.F. Fleetwood, of Sycamore, Ill., assisted by Rev. E.F. Clark, pastor of the Marion Congregational Church, with which the deceased had been identified since coming to this city in 1865, when her brother-in-law Rev. J.A.Ross, was the pastor. Three hymns, "Lead Kindly Light," "Asleep in Jesus" "Abide With Me," were beautifully rendered by Mrs. Mary Preston Beaven, of Cedar Rapids. Interment took place in Oak Shade cemetery, alongside the grave of her husband, who died June 1, 1904.
