Funeral services are to be held at the Yocom Funeral chapel at 2:30 Friday afternoon for Mrs. John Oliver, 53 years old, who died Wednesday morning at the University hospital in Iowa City. She had been ill for several months and was in the hospital since July 27. Funeral services will be in charge of Dr. W.E. Fisher of the Presbyterian church here, and interment will be in Oak Shade cemetery.
Clara Louise Lake, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Lake, was born Dec. 20, 1878, in Marion, and received her education in the Marion schools. She was married on Dec. 17, 1917, to John P. Oliver, and they lived in Perry, Ia., Ogden, Utah, and San Francisco before returning to Marion to make their home.
Mrs. Oliver was a devout member of the Christian church and was active in affairs of the Philathen class. She was a member of Grove City Rebekah lodge No. 25, and the W.R.C. of Marion.
A sweet and kindly woman whose every act was designed to be of assistance to others, Mrs. Oliver had a host of friends here who mourn her death.
She is survived by her husband, two step-children, Josephine and Louis Oliver of Omaha; two brothers Weare E. Lake of Marion and Benjamin F. Lake of Manly; two uncles, N. Elihu Ives of Washington, D.C., and J.W. Dumont of Davenport; two aunts, Mrs. B.E. Lake and Mrs. Ida Ives of Marion; four nieces and two nephews.
