Andrew Wentworth Van Vleck, a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids and a retired employe of Cedar Rapids Engineering Co., died in a local hospital Tuesday following a short illness. Born Oct. 23, 1895, in Cedar Rapids, he was married to Ruth Newell May 9, 1925, in Marion. He was a veteran of World war I. Mr. Van Vleck was a member of Central park Presbyterian church, International Assn. of Machinists AF of L., Harmony Lodge and the 109th Engineers.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Helen DeNeui, Fulton, Mo.; Dorothy McCalley and Ruth Naaktgeboren, both of Cedar Rapids, and Betty Achenbach, Hiawatha; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services: Turner chapel east at 1:30 p.m. Friday by the Rev. Allen S. Van Cleve. Burial: Oak Shade cemetery at Marion with military services by the VFW. Friends may call at Turner east.
