Amelia Geffert, 84, longtime resident of Marion, died in Mercy hospital Monday at 12:45 p.m. after a long illness.
Born March 11, 1864, at Wheeling, Ill., she was the daughter of Mrederick and Marie Boxman Geffert. She moved to Marion at the age of 14 years and attended schools here and later Coe College.
For many years she was a major in the Volunteers of America. Later she had charge of a girl's home in Chicago, but returned to Marion after her retirement. She never married.
She is survived by two nephews, Ben F. Eidamiller, of Des Plaines, Ill., and Weston L. Grupe of Winfield.
Services will be held in the Yocom chapel Friday at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. C.V.R. De Jong officiating. Burial were in Oak Shade cemetery.
Pallbearers will be L.O. Dickey, L.A. Klumph, Merle Robison and John Gritzner.
