The Marion Sentinel Thursday March 10, 1892
MRS. SARAH M. MILES,
Wife of Wm. Miles and daughter of Mr. Thomas and Martha Ireland, who was very ill at the time of her mother's death, Jan. 17th, gradually grew weaker, until on the morning of March 7th, 1892, and in the same house where her father, mother, younger sister, and her own child, had departed this life, she, too, breathed her last. She was born near Vinton, Dec. 18, 1859, and was the eldest of six children. She was married Feb. 6, 1878, to Wm. Miles. They had three children, but only two, the oldest and youngest, are living.
Mrs. Miles was of a retiring disposition, "a keeper at home," but an amiable spirit, which endeared her to all who knew her.
It is seldom that one so young has seen "the death angel" so often enter the home. Sad as it has been to see so many loved ones taken, but sadder still to go and leave her two brothers, John and George, orphans, and with a sister, her dear husband, and children, Marine and Bessie, but saddest of all to leave that one who is yet a babe needing a mother's arms, and knowing only only a mother's love. But Jesus seemed to be present, not only with his arms to enfold the babe, but so comforting the mother, that "out of each stony grief, a bethel she raised," until absent from the body and present with the Lord.
The funeral service was held at the house and conducted by Rev. Alex. S. Marshall
