2 November 1961 - The Anamosa Eureka

VIOLA--Lyman A. Postel, sr., 54, Viola, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the farm home of his son near Viola. Death was due to a coronary condition.

He was assisting his son to shovel corn at the time.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m., at the Methodist church, Viola. Rev. Alvin Ebert will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the Wilcox cemetery. Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa, is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Willis Armstrong, Roy Armstrong, Oren Armstrong, Ed Clemenson, Ward Knight and Lester Knight.

He was born Nov. 7, 1906, son of Lemuel Postel and Louisa Patnode Postel, Jones county. He was married May 12, 1928, to Dorothy Grassfield, Anamosa.

He had lived his married life in Jones and Linn counties and had been engaged in farming. The last year he had operated a store in Viola.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; one daughter, Lois, Mrs. Leon Shaffer, Viola; four sons, George and Lyman, jr., Anamosa; Curtis and Russell, Viola.

Others include four brothers, James Postel, Olin; Merle Postel, Monticello; Edward Postel, Dubuque; Robert Postel, Central City.

Others are six sisters, Mrs. Ed Pospishil, Central City; Mrs. Andrew Tobiassen, Anamosa; Mrs. Ray Tarbox, Olin; Mrs. Carl Morning, Monticello; Mrs. Rex Heiken, Anamosa; and Mrs. Charles Arthur, Hattiesburg, Miss., and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lloyd.
