SPRINGVILLE--Wilbur A. Shaffer, 82, Springville, died Sunday morning, Feb. 17, at his home in Springville.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Hunte Funeral home, Springville, at 1 p.m. Rev. Charles Willming, Anamosa and Rev. Maurice Gunn officiated at the services. Graveside services were held at the Dayton cemetery, near Clarence.

He was born Sept. 6, 1880, son of William and Mary Conro Shaffer near Lowden, where he grew to manhood.

He was married to Carrie Rogers, Jan. 6, 1904, at Clarence. Four children were born to this union, Ellsworth, Myrtle, Jeanette and Herbert.

He had made his home in Springville for the last 37 years.

Survivors include his wife Carrie; one daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Parker, Martelle; a son, Herbert, Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Hammond, Marion; and Mrs. Maude Beatt, California; 11 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two children, Ellsworth and Myrtle; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Leggett, Anamosa; and a brother, Norman, Lowden.
