VIOLA--Glen Matthiessen, 48, died at his home at Viola last Thursday evening after a long illness.

Rev. C. Dana Boggie, Springville, was in charge of the funeral service.

Mr. Matthiessen was born July 24, 1894, at Estherville, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Matthiessen. He married Miss Rose Staley in 1912 at Marion. They made their home near Viola and have since lived in the vicinity where Mr. Matthiessen has farmed and been foreman of bridge workers.

Three children were born. One son died during infancy, Fay died five years ago, and a daughter, Mrs. Alfred Leeper, Wyoming, survives.

Other survivors are: Mrs. Matthiessen; his parents, a brother, Garry, Anamosa; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Butler, Mount Vernon, and Mrs. Flo Eiler, Wyoming; grandmother, Mrs. Katie Munday, Marion; and two grandchildren, Darlene and Billy Leeper, Wyoming.
