SUDDEN DEATH BRINGS SORROW TO WIDE CIRCLE
Clinton M. Kennedy Passes Away Tuesday After a Brief Illness
Clinton M. Kennedy passed away unexpectedly at his home, 340 Eleventh street, at an early hour Tuesday morning, after a brief illness of pneumonia. Funeral services will be conducted from the home at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon, conducted by Rev. Dr. Finney and interment will be in Oak Shade cemetery.
Mr. Kennedy was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Kennedy who came to Iowa from Ohio in 1853 and he was born in Marion Dec. 8, 1858. He was a contractor and painter which occupation he followed with his father for years.
He was of a jovial disposition, liked to joke and assisted many people in buying and owning their own homes. He was the owner of many town properties and was reputed to be a good landlord.
He was married to Julia Giffert[sic] May 22, 1895 and she as well as two sisters, Ms. Carrie Sholes, Marion and Mrs. Ida M. Wagner, Alexandria, Minn., and a brother, John W. Kennedy, Lincoln, Nebr, survive him. His was the first death in the family.
