September 23, 1947 - January 26, 2020

Wallace Green, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, January 26, 2020 at his home. Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, with Elder Zebedee Bell presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2020 at Brosh Chapel.

Wallace was born September 23, 1947 in Macon, Mississippi, the son of Eddie and Sylvia (Hellem) Green. He worked at the City of Cedar Rapids from 1966 until retiring in January 2001. Wallace a member of the Holy Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late elder George Stevens Sr., and after the death of Elder Stevens, started attending Gospel Tabernacle Church under the leadership of Pastor Jackie Horton. Wallace really enjoyed spending time with the “guys”. It made him feel young again. He also enjoyed reading his Bible, doing crossword puzzles as well as listening to music.

Wallace is survived by special niece Veronica Johnson; brothers Eddie (Gloria) Green Jr. of Wichita, Kansas, Robert Green of Covington, Georgia, George Stevens (Diana) of Cedar Rapids, and Charles (Veronica) Stevens of Cedar Rapids, special nephew David Browning Sr., special nieces Kathy Oliver, Latoya Ginger, and Ida Johnson, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Beatrice (George Sr.) Stevens, Dora Wise, Gertrude Bentley, Katherine Oliver, Ollie Green, and Berniece Stevens; brother Clarence Green and nephew Melvin Stevens.
