Ivan A. Spicer, 72, a Cedar Rapids resident prior to his retirement in 1970, died Sunday in a Brookings, S.D., hospital.
Mr. Spicer was born April 8, 1905, at Ottumwa, and later moved to Cedar Rapids. He was a machinist for Universal Engineering until retirement in 1970, when he moved to Elkton, S.D.
On Jan. 2, 1952, at Muscatine, he married Violet Hendricks, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Gene, Denver, Colo.; three stepsons, Robert and Floyd Hendricks, both of Cedar Rapids, and Leroy Hendricks, Wichita, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. John Konen, Mrs. Hubert Stephens and Mrs. Virgil Fritz, all of Cedar Rapids.
Services: Wednesday at 2:30, the Church at Covington, by the Rev. Stephen Root. Friends may call between 12 and 2 Wednesday at the church. Burial: Spring Grove cemetery, Covington.
Other services are scheduled Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist church, Elkton. Rude's funeral home of Brookings has charge.
