JOHN STRAWBINGER IS DEAD AT DAUGHTER'S HOME AT AGE OF 74
John Strawbinger, senior, 74 years old, died at the home his daughter, Mrs. C.W. McCalley, 402 Third avenue, west, Cedar Rapids, at 9 p.m. Saturday.
Mr. Strawbinger had been in ill health for some time. He came to Marion in 1883 and has lived here most of the time, since, except about five years spent in Minnesota. His first wife died thirty-seven years ago while they were living in Minnesota.
He was married again in 1891 to Mrs. Frederike G. Lauterwasser, who died several years ago. He leaves a son, John Strawbinger, jr., and a daughter, Mrs. Margaret McCalley, both of Cedar Rapids, and one step-daughter, Emma Lauterwasser, of Marion. One son by the second wife died in infancy in 1894. He also leaves three grand children.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Pingrey chapel. The Rev. C.H. Vandersall of Cedar Rapids, will be in charge and burial made in Oak Shade at Marion.
