Capt. E. B. Soper and wife of Emmetsburg were in the city this morning going to Mt Vernon called thither on a sad mission, Mrs. Soper's father, John F Corey, having died yesterday. He is one of the old settlers of Linn County and widely known in the county. He was injured last winter by his team taking fright at boys coasting and throwing him out and the sleigh which passed over him and never recovered fully from the effects of the accident. He was 68 years of age and the loss will be greatly felt by his relatives and friends of whom he had a large number.
