The Marion Sentinel Thursday April 26, 1900
Death of John McMullen.
John McMullen died at the Biggs House in Marion, Thursday, April 19th, 1900, after a short illness. He was on his way from a visit in Kansas City to Savanna, Ill., where he had been making his home with his son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. O.S. McMullen, who formerly resided in Marion. During his residence in Marion he was highly respected by many friends, and was a frequent attendant at the Christian church during Eld. Seaton's pastorate. He was born in Sodus Center, Wayne county, New Yori, Sept. 25, 1825. He is survived by three married sons, viz: F.L. McMullen, of Chicago; O.S. McMullen, of Savanna, and Herbert McMullen, of Milwaukee, who were present at the funeral Saturday, April 21, which was held at Dumont's undertaking rooms. The services were in charge of Rev. D.L. Dunkleberger, pastor of the Christian church, a choir from the same church furnishing appropriate music. The interment took place in the Marion cemetery, the sons making arrangements with the cemetery association for the care of the lot for the coming ten years.
