Garry Treat, one of Marion's highest respected pioneers, died yesterday afternoon about 1:30 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E.J. Esgate, on North Tenth street. Mr. Treat had been ill for about two weeks, ever since returning from Nebraska where he was called by the sudden death of a brother and on account of a very weak heart his condition was serious from the beginning. He was eighty-one years old last December, but had been quite active up to the time of his last illness. His wife and the one daughter survive and he will be sadly missed in the home and in the church being very devoted to both.
The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Baptist church. Rev. H.M. McDonald of Manchester, a former pastor here, will conduct the services, assisted by Rev. E.A. Seymour and Rev. A.T. Bishop
