JOHN R. BURI RITES CONDUCTED TODAY
Local services for John R. Buri, Kresge store manager, were conducted by Rev. J.A. Hoefer at St. John's church at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon.
Mrs Rolla Shively and Miss Minnie Stallbohm, accompanied by Miss Naomi Schmidt, sang "No Night There", "Sometime We'll Understand" and "Under His Wing."
Employees of the local Kresge store attended services in a body and the store was closed between the hours of 3 and 4 p.m. Fraternal organizations of which Mr. Buri was a member, and Logan County Council, Boy Scouts of America, of which he was commissioner, were also represented at the services. A uniformed scout from each troop attended.
Pallbearers were:Claude C. Tull and Vincent Bechelli of this city; and four members of the Kresge organization including S.M. Osbeck, assistant manager of Bloominton; L.W. Powell, Champaign manager; C.L. Schaffer, Decatur manager, and R.B. Thomas, superintendent of St. Louis.
Following the service here, the remains were returned to the Goff Funeral Home to remain until Wednesday morning when the funeral party will travel overland to Cedar Rapids. A Knights Templar service will be conducted at the grave in Cedar Rapids at 10 a.m. Thursday.
