JOHN A. MEADE
Cedar Rapids

John A. Meade, 66, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, June 14, 2019.
The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Murdoch Funeral Home in Marion, Iowa. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Dennis Juhl. Graveside services will be held at
11 a.m. Thursday, June 20, in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril, Iowa.
John was born March 14, 1953, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, the son of Carl and Mary Lou (Shotten) Meade. He was a 1971 graduate of Postville High School and went on to obtain an associates degree in accounting and business administration from Academy of International Business. He worked as an accountant for 46 years, most recently with Lebeda Mattress Factory since 1996. John was a former member of the Polk City Jaycees. He loved sports and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. John enjoyed the outdoors, camping and grilling. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren, and he had a very special bond with his brother, Jim. John had a generous heart, and was always so thoughtful and caring and wanted people around him to be happy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
John is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughter, Annie Meade of Marion; son, Jason (Jenn) Meade of South Windsor, Conn.; mother, Mary Lou Meade of Hampton, Iowa; brother and best friend, Jim (Deb) Meade of Hampton; three grandchildren, Grace, Aiden and Abby; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Meade; two sons, Patrick and Sean Meade; and former wife and mother of Annie and Sean, Reenie Meade.
Memorials may be directed to the family in John's memory to be designated at a later time.
