Heart disease caused the sudden death of Charles H. Chandler of Cedar Rapids, president of the Chandler Pump company, in the Northwestern terminal, Chicago. With Mr. Chandler at his death were his wife, and their 10-year-old son Philip on their way to a Florida resort where they had intended to spend the winter. The body was taken in charge by Mrs. Chandler and Herman Cushman, of Glencoe, Illinois, and will be returned to Cedar Rapids at 4:25 p.m. today. Funeral services probably will be held Sunday. The family has friends in Clinton who learn of Mr. Chandler's death with sincere sorrow. Mrs. Chandler and her daughters visited relatives here frequently.

Charles Herbert Chandler was born at Primrose, Wis., May 11, 1859, and came with his parents to Monticello, Iowa, in 1863, being associated with his father in business after attaining manhood. After his marriage to Miss Stella Shade in October, 1881, he removed to Rodney, Iowa, where he became registered pharmacist and proprietor of the leading pharmacy of that place. It is an interesting fact that he continued his certificate and kept in touch with his profession throughout his lifetime.

In March, 1892, Mr. Chandler disposed of his Rodney interests and came to Cedar Rapids, to which place the Chandler Pump company, originally a Monticello institution, had been removed some time previously. For a number of years he represented the company in Iowa and was accounted one of the best pump salesmen in the state.
