Rites Wednesday for Merrill Bartlett, 77
Merrill M. Bartlett, 77, of 1550 Ninth avenue, Marion, died Sunday at an Iowa City hospital. He was born April 21, 1891, at Grinnell. During World war I, he served with the U.S. Army in France. He had resided in Marion for the last 56 years and was a section foreman with the Milwaukee road, where he was employed for 51 years. Mr. Bartlett was a member of the First Baptist church of Marion; was a 52-year member of Marion Lodge No. 6, A.F and AM; chapter 10, RAM; Veteran of World war I, Linn County Barracks, No. 695; and Local No. 7, Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes.
Surviving are four brothers, Leo L. of Roseville, Calif.; Vernon of Cedar Rapids, and Paul and Clark of Marion, and a sister, Mrs. Paul Holst of Marion.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the Murdoch chapel in Marion, conducted by the Rev. Charles Moore and Marion Lodge 6, AF and AM. Burial: Oak Shade cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 10 a.m. Tuesday. All Master Masons are requested to meet at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the temple to attend the services.
