The Late Geo. A. Lillie.
At the funeral services of the late Geo. A. Lillie, held at the Congregational church Wednesday of last week, Rev. A.D. Kinzer read the following sketch of the deceased:
George A. Lillie was born in Bethel, Vermont, March 11th, 1840, and grew to manhood there.
August 2d, 1862, he enlisted in company G, 16th Vermont volunteers. Was made a sergeant in his company and served out his term of enlistment, taking part in the battle of Gettysburg.
Returning home he and his brother Leroy, came to Marion in August, 1864, and for the last 37 years resided in Marion township, the most of the time engaged in farming.
He was married in March, 1869, to Mary White, who died in September, 1895.
He leaves two adopted children, six brothers and sisters, and an aged mother to mourn his departure.
