MRS. FRANCES MARTIN DIES AT MARION HOME
Mrs. Frances Martin, age 56 years, died at her home, 844 Ninth street, Marion, Friday at six o'clock p.m., heart trouble being the cause of death. Mrs. Martin, whose maiden name was Phillips, was born at Freeport, Ill., in September 16, 1861. She was married to William Martin, December 21, 1881, in Marion. Mr. Martin died about twelve years ago, and Mrs. Martin's body is to rest beside him in Oak Shade cemetery. Six children were born to them, one dying in 1900 at the age of fifteen, the others are Misses Blanche and Lillian, Mrs. Walter Van Fossen and Mrs. Bertha Burt, who live in the home, and Mrs. Valentine of Cedar Rapids. Besides the daughters three sisters survive: Mrs. W.W. Tritle, and Mrs. W.H. Snyder of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. J.G. Westbrook of Freeport, Ill., and two brothers, Charles Phillips of Tacoma, Wash., and W.G. Phillips of Los Angeles, California.
No funeral arrangements have been made, on account of waiting for a sister, Mrs. Westbrook of Freeport, to arrive, although it is expected that the Rev. H.G. Finney of the Presbyterian church will have charge of the services as Mrs. Martin was a member of that church.
