Services Thursday for Harold 'Buzz' Young
Harold Ace "Buzz" Young, 39, of 180 South Fifteenth street, died Tuesday at his home.
He was born Feb. 20, 1924, at Martelle. Mr. Young lived most of his life in the Cedar Rapids and Marion area. He served with the Marine corps during World war II. He was a master technical sergeant and a radio repairman. He fought in the battle of Guadalcanal and was awarded the presidential citation.
Mr. Young was married to Joan Marcia Benesh on June 24, 1944, at Corona, Calif. He has been employed by the Iowa Electric Light and Power Co. for the last 14 years. He was a member of Marion post No. 298, American Legion.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Marcia June Young of Cedar Rapids and Patricia Katherine Young at home; six sisters, Mrs. James Kidwell of Anamosa, Mrs. Russell Meade of Scottsdale, Ariz., Mrs. Rudolph Karal of Fairfax, Mrs. Glenn Aldrich of Hopkinton, Mrs. Homer Chester and Mrs. David Price, both of Marion, and a brother, Clifford of Buffalo, Mo.
Services: Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Murdoch chapel by the Rev. Herbert G. Kohl and Marion post No. 298. Burial: Oak Shade. Friends may call at the chapel.
