The Marion Pilot Thursday August 24, 1899
The sad news of the death of Mrs. N.E. Isbell, of Lancing, Mich., reached Marion Thursday. Geo. Isbell and Mrs. Callie Davis, son and daughter of the deceased, accompanied the remains which reached Marion at 6:30 Friday morning. Interment was held in Oak Shade cemetery, Rev. Gonzales conducting the services which were held at the grave. Mrs. Isbell was a kind neighbor and good citizen. Many a long year it was the privilege of the writer to be a neighbor of hers and many a remembrances from her garden found its way to the writer's table as well as flowers from her choice collections, culled and gathered by her own hands. She was a well known pioneer of this county and a member of the Congregational church. It is with sincere regret that we bid farewell to one who has endeared herself by so many kindnesses to us. But we know that all is well with her and that she is at rest.
