Fred G. Brink, Long In Electrical Business In Cedar Rapids, Is Dead
Fred G. Brink, 1812 Grande avenue, for many years associated with Charles E. Fawcett in the machine and electrical supplies business here, died at 5:15 p.m. yesterday at a local hospital following a week's illness.
Mr. Brink was born in Fulton, Ill., Sept. 5, 1871, and came when a boy to Clarence, Ia., when his parents moved there. As a young man he learned telegraphy and was employed for a time by the North Western railroad as assistant chief freight clerk in Cedar Rapids. In 1900 he became associated with Mr. Fawcett in business here. After the death of Mr. Fawcett about four years ago, Mr. Brink carried on the business until it was closed a year and a half ago. Recently he had been with the Paulson Electrical company. Mr. Brink was a member of the Knights of Pythias lodge.
Surviving his are his widow, Mrs. Clara K. Brink, and one sister, Mrs. Charles E. Fawcett.
Funeral services will be held at the Turner chapel at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. John J. Gent will officiate and burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
