Obituary of A. Ling.
Adelbert Ling was born in Jay, N.Y., April 3, 1854, and died at his home near Ellis park in Cedar Rapids, Dec. 19, 1919. After the death of his parents when he was 14 years old he came west with the family of George Gould and was brought up as son in this family at Vinton. In 1875 he was married at Vinton to Miss Nellie Dodge, who died in 1909.
Mr. Ling is survived by four children, William A. Ling of Evanston, Ill., Mrs. Robert Williams, Louis A. Ling and Mrs. Charles Toeller of Evanston.
When 21 years old Mr. Ling started a dairy business in Cedar Rapids which he continued to carry on for thirty years when he retired to his small farm near Ellis park. He had been a director of the Edgewood school board for thirty years and also had held the position of township trustee of that township.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today at the residence and was largely attended by many friends and relatives living here and at Vinton. The Rev. W.C. Perdew officiated and burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.
