Death of Mrs. Robert Smyth
The death of Mrs. Robert Smyth occurred Wednesday evening, July 3, 1907, at her late home in Marion, after an illness of about three years. The funeral took place Friday afternoon at the Congregational church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. M.L. Hutton. The music was furnished by a choir consisting of Mr. and Mrs. D.E. Voris, Miss Essie Johnson, Miss Blanche Kerr, Mrs. Josephine Lillie and Dr. J.J. Booth. The pallbearers were: B.F. Mentzer, W.A. Stoufer, Henry A. Scott, Chas M. Scott, P.O. Clark and O.G. Waffle.
Anna Rebecca Toms was born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Dec. 30, 1859, where she resided with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Toms, Sr., till she was bout ten years of age, when, with her parents, she came to Marion, where she has lived ever since. On Feb. 2, 1978[sic], she was united in marriage with Robert Smyth. To this union was born one son, Frank, who, with the husband, survives. Besides these, the deceased is survived by two sisters and three brothers, as follows: Mrs. W.N. Fuller, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Mrs. S.L. Winter, of Presbo, S.D.; M.M. Toms, of Springville, and J.M. and Geo. W. Toms, Jr., of Marion, Ia.
