Longtime Local Resident Dies In Iowa City Monday
Mrs. May Widger Burkhart, 65, widow of Frank H. Burkhart, passed away at 1:50 a.m. Monday at the University hospital at Iowa City following a long illness.
She was born March 4, 1888 at Rippey, the daughter of Samuel and Amanda Hendrickson Soden. She has been a resident of Marion for more than 40 years and was a practical nurse for many years.
Mrs. Burkhart was a member of the Marion Christian church and of Grove City Rebekah Lodge No. 35.
Surviving are two sons, Harve E. Montgomery of Marion and W. Robert Widger of Cedar Rapids; a granddaughter, Sandra Montgomery of Marion, and two sisters, Mrs. Wilbur Gorham of Marshalltown, and Mrs. C.O. Wormer of Des Moines.
Memorial services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Murdoch Funeral Home by the Rev. Roy P. Fields, Jr. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery.
