Herman Zimmer, 78, Died Suddenly At Lisbon Home of Son
Herman Zimmer, a resident of Marion for more than a third of a century, died quite suddenly at 8:10 p.m. Monday, December 11, at the home of his son, Erwin, in Lisbon.
He was born March 21, 1866, in Sheboygan county, Wis., the son of Jacob and Margaret Zimmer.
He was married in Sheboygan, December 27, 1887, to Bertha Stoelting, who died in Marion in March 24, 1944, breaking a marital union 62 years.
Surviving are three sons and three daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Irion, North Dakota; Richard Zimmer, Marion; Ben W. Zimmer, Omaha; Mrs. Frank J. Huth, Marion; Erwin H. Zimmer, Lisbon, and Mrs. Ray Domer, Marion. There are also ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Zimmer was a retired teamster, moving here from Manchester in 1910 and residing at 340 Third street.
Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at two o'clock from the Yocom chapel in Marion, with the Rev. C.V.R. De Jong, Presbyterian minister in charge of the services. The bearers were Elmer Seevell, Fred Lang, Archie Milner and Ray Wickham. The music was a duet by Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Kearns. Burial was made in Shiloh cemetery.
