The Marion Sentinel Thursday April 21, 1910
Death of Tyler D. Hewitt.
The death of Tyler D. Hewitt occurred Monday morning at 2 o'clock at his home on N. 10th street, after an illness of about two months. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the house, being conducted by Rev. S.R. Beatty, of the M.E. church.
Tyler Davenport Hewitt was born in LeClaire, Scott county, Iowa, August 23, 1856, where he spent his early life, and died April 18, 1910. He came to Marion about 1880. He was united in marriage to Miss Eva May Stowe, April 30th, 1882. To this union one son was born, Leonard G. Hewitt. Mr. Hewitt was a baker by trade, and was proficient in his business. He was for many years a member of the Methodist church. Mr. Hewitt was a kind-hearted man, a lover of his home and was respected by those who knew him. Beside his wife and one son, Leonard G. Hewitt, a clerk in the division superintendent's office here, a brother, Attorney W.E. Hewitt and sister, Mrs. B.F. Meek, both of Minneapolis, are left to mourn their loss. The family have the sympathy of all in their bereavement, this being the second time the grim reaper has entered their home in two months, Mrs. Hewitt's father L. Stowe, having died February 12th.
