DEATH of Mr. MCAFEE--Some weeks ago we announced that Mr. Daniel McAfee, father of D.T. McAfee, of this city, was lying dangerously ill at his home in Mechanicsville, and it is with sorrow that we now announce his death. He died Sunday. His disease was an affection of the lungs. Mr. M. was a native of Pennsylvania and was born in 1795. He was therefore seventy-five years old. He lived through many long years which were crowded with grand achievements and startling events. He witnessed the death of one century, the dawn of another, and when this was two-thirds gone the old man sank quietly and peacefully to rest. He lived 58 years in Pennsylvania, and spent the last 17 years in Cedar county, in this State. For 45 years he was a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. This notice is not intended for, and is not in any particular, an obituary. But as one who has known him many years we will say in addition to the above that he was in the truest sense of the word, a Man.
