The Marion Weekly Register Thursday November 10, 1870
DIED.
In Marion, November 5th, 1870, Miss Ida Rowe, aged fifteen years.
She was born in Essex County, N.Y. and removed with her parents to Marion, Iowa, in 1869. By her genial spirit, cordial friendship and pleasing manners, she soon made acquaintances and friends and became a general favorite with all who knew her, both old and young. In the Public School, she had many friends and held a large place in the affections of her teachers.
Soon after her arrival in Marion, she commenced playing the organ in the Baptist Church and Sabbath School and the Sabbath previous to her death, she played the organ in Sabbath School as usual. On Monday she complained of soreness of the throat and Tuesday afternoon at recess she left school quite unwell. A Physician being soon called, her disease was pronounced Scarlet Fever, which proved to be in its worst form, under with she steadily sunk, till Saturday afternoon about 4 1/2 o'clock, she died.
Thus with health blooming upon her cheek like the summer rose, she went suddenly down into the arms of death, deeply lamented by all who knew her.
Though never having made a public profession of religion, she gave good evidence of being a child of god. She was a praying girls and loved to attend the prayer meetings and to sing the promises of Jesus. We believe she has gone to be with that Saviour of whom she loved to sing here.
