The maiden name of the late Mrs. Lanning was Margaret Lane[sic] Thomas. She was a native of Hardenburgh, Kentucky--born May 17, 1835. She was married April 28, 1858 to Mr. John Lanning at Lafayette, Iowa, where she lived until her final summons came. Her husband died July 3d, 1911. Mrs. L. joined the Christian church in 1872 and continued her membership to the end. A daughter, two sons and three grand children survive. Her funeral services were held in her home church Sunday, November 18. Interment in the Lafayette cemetery.
