Marilyn Joyce Waters Lockwood, 42, of 132 Northwood Drive, Hiawatha, wife of James D. Lockwood, died today in a Cedar Rapids hospital following a long illness. Formerly of Alta Vista, she had been a Hiawatha resident the last 20 years.
Born Nov. 18, 1935, at Caldwell, she was married to Mr. Lockwood July 3, 1954, at Alta Vista. She operated the Hiawatha Preschool for ten years and was a kindergarten teacher at Nixon Elementary School. Mrs. Lockwood was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Hiawatha.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, [private]; and four sons [private]; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Waters, Alta Vista; and a sister, Rebecca Sue Hart, Springfield, Ill.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hope United Church of Christ in Hiawatha by Pastor Lyle Greiner. Cremation was held at Cedar Memorial. Friends may, if they wish, contribute to the Hope United Church of Christ memorial fund. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
