JANICE MARIE JACOBY SNYDER Marion Janice Marie Jacoby Snyder, 77, of Marion, passed through the gates of heaven to join all her loving family there on Oct. 22, 2017. She battled through cancer, diabetes and COPD for years before finally succumbing; she was surrounded by her loving family at the end. Funeral services will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27. Burial will follow immediately in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, including a rosary at 7 p.m. Janice Jacoby was born Sept. 23, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics to her loving parents, Jesse Winson Jacoby and Betty Jean (Reid) Jacoby. Janice was the oldest of four children. Janice was married three times, bearing four children during her first marriage. She divorced the two early marriages before finding the love of her life, Allen Snyder, in 1987. They shared a special love until Allen passed away in 2006. Allen will share the final journey with Janice with burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Janice attended Taylor Elementary and Wilson Junior High School. She would have been with the first graduating class at Jefferson High School, but didn't complete her education at this time. After many years, she returned to Kirkwood Community College in 1983 to finish her education. She obtained her diploma and GED. During her lifetime, Janice worked at DJ's Lounge, Kmart West and Chesapeake Security, all in Iowa. She held many positions at Ramada Inn before ending up as night manager. After marrying Allen on Oct. 17, 1987, they moved to Cottonwood, Ariz., where she was the manager of a fine dining restaurant. Allen and Janice lived in Yuma for 25 years. After her mother and husband passed away in 2006, she moved back to her beloved Iowa. Janice is survived by a brother, Larry Joseph (Dawn) Bender; four children, Jolene Marie (Gavin) Powell, Suzanne Jean Koopman, Roger Eugene Hinton and Renee Irene Parrott; three aunts, Patsy Baker, Jackie (Don) Molander and Mona (Walter) Bates; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three nieces, and one nephew. She was blessed with six long life friends, Janice S., Shirley S., Ethel A., Vickie L., Paul E., and Barbara C. To all my friends and family, I love you all and take care of yourselves, Facebook friends too. To all the doctors and nurses who took such great care of me for so many years, special thanks to Dr. Saxena, Dr. Venkatesh, Fifth floor Center, PCI chemo and Dr. Bell. If I missed anyone, I'm sorry. To Dawn F., Barbara C., Kathy W., and Father Mark of St. Joseph's, a special thank-you. Thank you to Therapy Solutions and Hospice Care with Robin and Becky. Janice was a longtime member of VFW Auxiliary Unit 788. Janice was preceded in death by her loving husband, Allen Richard Snyder; her parents, Jesse Winson Jacoby and Betty Jean Reid Jacoby Bender; her stepfather, John Lavern Bender; grandparents, Gertrude Jacoby Bates and Jesse Winson Gray; uncle, Walter Bates; grandparents, Oval (Ruth Cheney) Reid; and two brothers, Douglas Lee Jacoby and Roger Eugene Jacoby. A memorial fund has been established and will be directed to the family. Online condolences may be expressed to her family at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home's Website . A very special thank-you and "I love you" to my caregiver, my daughter, Suzanne, who took special care of me since my return from Arizona 11 years ago with many serious health problems. I don't know what I would have done without your constant and loving care. Now at the end you're with me 24/7.
