Long Time Marion Resident Dies in Missouri Friday

Mrs. Clara Wilson Hale, for many years a Marion resident, died at the home of her niece, Mrs. Metta Lowden at the latter's home in Chillicothe, Mo., Friday, October 23rd, after a short illness. Mrs. Hale spent the last few months with her niece, who accompanied the body to Marion for funeral services.
Clara Winter, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Winter, prominent Linn county people, was born in 1884[sic], and spent her girlhood here. In 1866 she was married to the Rev. James Wilson, at one time pastor of the Marion Christian church. Their son Wellington died when only two years of age and the daughter, Ellington became Mr. Britt. Mrs. Hale made her home with her daughter until the daughter's death in 1919.
For many years she lived in the home of her brother, W.S. Winter. Two years ago she was married to Charles Hale of this city and at the time of her death they lived at 1346, Seventh avenue.
Mrs. Hale is survived by her husband, one sister, Mrs. R. Lee Taylor and two brothers, W.S. Winter and Stillman Winter all of Marion.
Funeral services were held at the Yocom Funeral Home Wednesday, conducted by Edward Edinger of Cedar Rapids, and Ernest Kennedy of this city. Interment was made in Oak Shade.
