PROMINENT CEDAR RAPIDS WOMAN DIES AFTER LONG AND SLOW DECLINE

Mrs. Catherine P. Jenkins, mother of C.N. Jenkins, secretary of the Farmers Insurance company, died at 8:20 Wednesday morning at her home 1205 Second avenue. She had been failing in health for the past three years.
Mrs. Jenkins was born in New York state April 18, 1839, and was 76 years of age at the time of her death. While she was but a child her parents removed to Michigan and took up residence on a farm near Detroit, they being pioneers in this part of the state.
She was married in 1853 to L.E. Jenkins, whose death occurred eight years ago. To them were born three children, two of whom survive, Mr. Jenkins and a daughter, Mrs. O.A. DeLancey, now of Prairieburg.
The family came to Cedar Rapids in 1876, and have ever since occupied the Second avenue homestead.
Mrs. Jenkins was an active worker in the Liberal Christian church, her husband having been one of the founders and the first treasurer of the institution. She was also prominent in the activities of the Woman's club.
Besides her children, Mrs. Jenkins is survived by two grandchildren, Mrs. C.H. Goodyear and Karl D. Jenkins, both of this city.
Funeral services will be held from the home at 1:30 Friday afternoon. Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
