CIVIL WAR VETERAN SUDDENLY STRICKEN
----------------------------------
Mr. George W. Armour, civil war veteran and for twenty years a resident of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly at his home at 1016 South Tenth street, west, at 10 o'clock Saturday morning.
Mr. Armour was a member of the First Baptist church. He had served four years in the Forty-seventh Illinois infantry and during that time took part in some of the most important engagements of the war. He prided himself that he had been an intimate friend of Rob Burdette, the humorist and evangelist. For the past few years Mr. Armour had been in charge of the city bathing beach.
Last October Mr. Armour was united in marriage with Mrs. Stoflet. Previous to the morning of his death the deceased had been in good health, but on arising Saturday he suffered a stroke of paralysis and about 10 o'clock passed away.
He is survived by a widow, two sons, Warren of Wisconsin and Guy of Rockford, Ill., and one daughter, Mrs. Walter Krebs of this city.
The funeral will be held from the home at 2:30 Monday afternoon, under the auspices of the G.A.R., Rev. McGee and Rev. Stauffacher officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill cemetery.
