The Marion Sentinel Thursday June 23, 1892
OBITUARY.
SUSAN EDITH TRITLE.
Susan Edith Tritle was born near Greencastle, Franklin County, Penn., June 29, 1872, and died Jun 17, 1892, of consumption.
She was baptized when two years old on her mother's death bed, by the Rev. Clinefelder, pastor of the Lutheran church at Greencastle. Deceased came to Marion, October 7, 1891, and made her home with the family of W.B.Phillips, until she was taken sick. She was then conveyed to the home of her brother William, who resides at 420 Eighth avenue, where she remained up to the time of her death.
She was taken ill with la grippe a few months ago, which settled on her lungs, from which she never recovered.
She bore her affliction very patiently while ill. She was rational until the last and spoke of going to heaven where she would have no pain or sorrow, and where she could meet her mother and loved ones who died several years ago.
A few minutes before her death she put her arms around her sister Annie's neck and spoke thus; "Hark! some one is knocking. Annie, I am dying" and she fell asleep in Jesus.
There were by her bedside, her father, two sisters, and two brothers. The family were all present, except one sister, who is living in Pennsylvania.
Garlands of flowers were presented by the friends of the deceased, which showed their regard in a way that will never be forgotten by the bereaved.
The funeral services were held at the home of her brother, W.W. Tritle, Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. E.L. Miller, pastor of the M.E. church. The remains were taken to the cemetery where they were laid to rest. W.G.P.
