JOHN A. SMID, LONG TIME PLUMBER, DIES
John A. Smid, for years engaged in the plumbing trade in this city, died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the family home, 1308 South Third street west, following a brief illness. He was 38 years old.
Surviving relatives include his three brothers, Frank, Louis, and . G., and one sister, Mrs. William Stirsky, all of Cedar Rapids. Mr. Smid's mother preceded him in death about a year ago.
Mr. Smid was active in fraternal circles, having been a member of the Catholic Workmen, Court Cedar Foresters of America, and local Plumber's union No. 125.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the home followed by a more extended service in the St. Wenceslaus church, the Rev. Florain Svrdlik officiating. Burial will be made in the Bohemian Catholic cemetery.
Members of the Plumbers' union are requested to meet at Federation hall this evening to make arrangements to attend the funeral of Mr. Smid.
